Amiga 1000

The Amiga 1000 was Commodore's inaugural Amiga computer, released in July 1985 and designed by Jay Miner's team at Amiga Corporation. It introduced the Original Chip Set (OCS) featuring the Agnus, Denise, and Paula custom chips, delivering advanced graphics and stereo sound capabilities unprecedented in consumer computers of that era. Powered by a Motorola 68000 processor running at approximately 7.16 MHz, the system shipped with 256 KB of standard RAM expandable to 512 KB internally, and debuted the AmigaOS with true preemptive multitasking. The machine was distinguished by its unique case design incorporating a 'keyboard garage' underneath for storage and its initial retail price of $1,295, positioning it as a sophisticated multimedia workstation.
