CDTV
CDTV (Commodore Dynamic Total Vision) was a multimedia home entertainment system released by Commodore in 1991, essentially repackaging Amiga 500 hardware into a living room-friendly set-top box with a built-in CD-ROM drive. Marketed as a CD-ROM-based multimedia appliance rather than a traditional computer, it featured a wireless infrared remote control and specialized Genlock capabilities for overlaying graphics on video signals. Despite its innovative concept and compatibility with Amiga software through optional keyboard and mouse peripherals, the CDTV failed commercially due to high pricing, limited software library, and consumer confusion about its positioning between gaming consoles and computers.
