Denise
Denise is the custom video display chip in Commodore Amiga computers, responsible for generating the analog RGB video output signal and controlling all screen display functions. It manages the rendering of playfields (background graphics), handles up to eight hardware sprites with collision detection, and supports advanced display modes including HAM (Hold-And-Modify) for displaying 4096 colors simultaneously. As one of the three core custom chips alongside Agnus and Paula, Denise defines the Amiga's graphics capabilities, with the ECS version (Super Denise) adding support for higher resolution Productivity modes and VGA-compatible output.
