Kickstart

Kickstart is the firmware boot ROM used in Amiga computers, containing the essential components of AmigaOS required to initialize the system. Stored in socketed ROM chips on the motherboard, it performs hardware initialization and loads the operating system from disk. Various versions existed from 1.0 to 3.1 and beyond, with users often physically replacing chips to upgrade capabilities or compatibility.
