- **Gruendung**: 1982, USA - **Gruender**: Bill Stealey, Sid Meier, Andy Hollis (begann in Stealeys Keller) - **Wichtigste Amiga-Spiele**: F-15 Strike Eagle (1985, portiert), Silent Service (1985), Pirates! (1987), Railroad Tycoon (1990), Civilization (1991) - **Civilization auf Amiga**: Die Amiga-Version war der erste Port des DOS-Originals, erstellt von der britischen MicroProse-Abteilung. Sid Meier designte nur den ersten Teil. - **Bedeutung**: Praegte das Simulationsgenre (Flugsimulationen) und das Strategiegenre (Civilization) massgeblich. Railroad Tycoon und Civilization wurden zu den bestverkauften Strategiespielen aller Zeiten. - **Schicksal**: Sid Meier verliess 1996 MicroProse und gruendete Firaxis Games. MicroProse wurde mehrfach verkauft (Spectrum HoloByte, Hasbro, Infogrames). 2020 Wiederbelebung der Marke durch einen neuen Eigentuemer.
