Brilliance
Brilliance by Digital Creations (1993) was the direct competitor to DPaint IV/V. It offered similar functions plus some advantages: better animation tools, more drawing modes, and especially AGA support with 256 colors from the start. Brilliance 2.0 (1994) was particularly popular in the demoscene due to the excellent HAM8 mode. The program was later released as freeware.
