LightWave 3D
LightWave 3D by NewTek was introduced as part of the Video Toaster package in 1990. It consisted of Modeler (3D modeling) and Layout (animation/rendering). LightWave became famous through its use in TV series like Babylon 5, SeaQuest, and later in films. It was one of the first programs enabling photorealistic 3D animations on consumer hardware. LightWave still exists today as a standalone product for Windows/Mac.
